Dr. Brown is the area’s only board-certified ophthalmologist specifically for refractive surgery through the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences. Dr. Brown was born in Rapid City, SD, and raised in Pierre, SD. He realized his passion for ocular surgery while he was employed by the South Dakota Lions Eye & Tissue Bank when he was an undergraduate. This led him on an educational path across the country to study ophthalmology.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from South Dakota State University
  • Medical degree from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota
  • Internal medicine internship at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, NE
  • Ophthalmology residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE
  • Fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC
